From August 27 to 30, 2025, our inBrain team was in São Paulo to take part in the 1st ISMRM Brazil Chapter Meeting, held at Instituto Princípia. It was an intense four days of learning, presentations, and scientific exchange that highlighted the growing impact of Magnetic Resonance research in Brazil.

Right from the opening session, we were proud to see Professor Carlos Garrido and our alumni, Dr. André Paschoal and Dr. Ícaro Oliveira, among the organizers of the meeting.

The event kicked off with a Scientific Writing Bootcamp (Aug 27), led by the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (JMRI). Our students took part enthusiastically, discussing strategies to improve academic writing as well as reflecting on the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence.
On the following day (Aug 28), Professor Renata Leoni and our collaborator Dr. Ícaro Oliveira contributed to the Quantitative MRI session, presenting on applications in Perfusion and fMRI.

Friday (Aug 29) brought extra energy with the Power Pitch, where our Master’s and PhD students faced the challenge of presenting their projects in under two minutes — practicing clarity and precision in scientific communication.

On August 29 and 30, the spotlight turned to the poster sessions, where inBrain was represented with seven posters covering diverse areas — from Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) and machine learning to multimodal data integration, fMRI time series, pipeline development for clinical applications, and clinical data analysis.
Also on August 30, our PhD candidate José Henrique was selected for the oral session, presenting his work: Iron-Specific Contributions to Magnetic Susceptibility in the Human Basal Ganglia: A Comparative Study of Ex-Situ and In-Situ QSM Using EPR.

The closing session featured special contributions: Professor Renata Leoni presented the main research lines of our group, while Professor Carlos Garrido shared highlights from the latest ISMRM Annual Meeting in Hawaii. In a lighter moment, he even appeared as a fun “easter egg” in colleagues’ presentations, including Liana Guerra’s, who showcased a sketch he made to explain QSM.

And to crown it all, we celebrated remarkable achievements:
José Henrique – 2nd place in oral presentation.
Vinícius Rodrigues – Best Poster Award.

It was an inspiring and rewarding experience for the entire team. We return home with new knowledge, stronger collaborations, and renewed motivation for the next scientific gatherings.
