On June 18th, 2023, our colleague Eduardo Rocha Arruda successfully defended his Master’s dissertation titled “Quantitative Analysis of the Regional Microstructure of the Trigeminal Nerve in Healthy Young Adults: An MRI Study”. The research, supervised by Prof. Dr. Carlos Ernesto Garrido Salmon, was developed within the Graduate Program in Medicine (Neurology) at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School. Eduardo’s work stood out for its innovative application of magnetic resonance imaging, specifically diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data from the Human Connectome Project, to explore the fine structure of the trigeminal nerve — a key cranial nerve involved in facial sensation, motor function, and neuropathic conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia.

We warmly congratulate Eduardo on this significant academic achievement! His dedication, scientific rigor, and commitment throughout the Master’s program are a great source of pride for the InBrain Lab. His defense was marked by a clear, well-supported, and insightful presentation that reflected the strength and depth of his research.
We extend our sincere thanks to the examination committee — Dr. Maria Concepción García Otaduy (HCUSP) and Dr. Paulo Roberto Lacerda Leal (UFC) — for their valuable contributions, thought-provoking questions, and generous participation in this important milestone. Their expertise and engagement greatly enriched the final stage of Eduardo’s academic journey.
